Payroll Tax Analyst

Location: The Woodlands, TX (Hybrid)
Pay Rate: $27–$30/hour DOE
Employment Type: Temporary-to-Hire
CornerStone Professional Placement is seeking Payroll Tax Analysts for an opportunity with a growing HCM organization in The Woodlands area. This role supports payroll tax operations in a fast-paced, client-focused environment and is ideal for candidates with hands-on payroll tax processing experience in multi-state environments.
Responsibilities:
- Process payroll tax deposits, filings, and payments across multiple jurisdictions
- Research and resolve payroll tax discrepancies by working with clients and tax agencies
- Prepare quarterly and annual payroll tax filings, including electronic and paper returns
- Support compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations
- Respond to client and internal payroll tax inquiries in a timely and professional manner
- Maintain accurate payroll tax records and documentation across systems
- Assist with tax account setup, updates, and reconciliation activities
- Collaborate with internal teams to support payroll tax processing and workflow improvements
- 3+ years of payroll tax processing or payroll tax analyst experience
- Experience supporting multi-state payroll tax operations
- Knowledge of payroll tax filings, deposits, and compliance processes
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Experience working in payroll, HCM, or payroll service provider environments preferred
- Familiarity with payroll/tax systems such as ADP, UKG, Workday, Oracle, or similar platforms
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel (pivot tables and VLOOKUPs a plus)
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Monday–Friday, standard business hours
- Fully onsite during training period
- Hybrid schedule available after approximately 3 months
