Payroll & Benefits Specialist

LOCATION
Richardson, Texas | Onsite

COMPENSATION & SCHEDULE
• $35.00 per hour
• Temp-To-Hire
• Monday–Friday, standard business hours
• Bi-weekly payroll cycle

ROLE IMPACT

The Payroll & Benefits Specialist is responsible for delivering accurate payroll processing, benefits administration, and HR systems support while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and company policies. This role serves as a key resource for payroll operations, HR data integrity, reporting, and process improvements that enhance the employee experience and operational efficiency.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Process bi-weekly and special payrolls, including earnings adjustments, bonuses, timekeeping imports, garnishments, deductions, and payroll reconciliations.
• Maintain employee payroll, HRIS, and timekeeping records, ensuring data accuracy, security, and compliance with internal policies.
• Administer employee benefit programs, including new hire enrollments, qualifying life events, payroll deductions, vendor coordination, invoice reconciliation, and leave-related benefit administration.
• Prepare payroll, tax, retirement, and management reports while supporting audits and maintaining accurate personnel and compliance records.
• Track leave of absence activity, employee records, remote work designations, and company-sponsored time-off programs in accordance with established policies.
• Support HR technology enhancements, system testing, data audits, and implementation of process improvements that increase efficiency and strengthen internal controls.
• Respond to employee questions regarding payroll, benefits, HR policies, and system access while providing exceptional internal customer service.
• Collaborate with Human Resources and Finance to support compensation administration, compliance initiatives, and cross-functional HR operations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or GED required; additional education in Human Resources, Accounting, Business, or a related field is a plus.
• At least 3 years of experience in payroll, benefits administration, or HR operations.
• Working knowledge of payroll processing, HRIS platforms, benefits administration, employment regulations, and advanced Microsoft Excel functions. Experience with modern cloud-based payroll systems is preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Professional office environment.
• Frequent computer and keyboard use.
• Prolonged periods of sitting or standing.
• Occasional lifting or moving of office materials.
• Periodic travel between office locations may be required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to read printed and digital documents.
• Frequent use of hands and fingers for keyboarding and document handling.
• Ability to maintain focus and accuracy during detailed administrative work.
